Track construction

NC Rail builds new railway tracks and rebuilds existing infrastructure across Sweden and Norway. Track construction is the core of our business: we tear up old tracks, lay new rails, replace sleepers and adjust the track to the correct alignment. Contracts range from minor industrial sidings to work on the Swedish Transport Administration network. Based in Borlänge, we bring our own teams of track technicians, labourers and team leaders to every site. The client gets a single point of contact, clear reporting and a team that keeps to the schedule throughout the entire contract.

New construction and remodelling

New construction demands precision at every stage, from ballast and sleepers to stress relieving and final track alignment. NC Rail takes responsibility for the entire track superstructure and coordinates the work with power, signal and telecom when the project requires it. We are equally happy to work as a subcontractor to main contractors or directly for industrial track owners.

Every track construction project is concluded with inspection and documentation before the track is handed over. The client receives an operational track, ready for inspection and entry into service. This working method results in fewer remarks and a secure handover.

Shunting

Turnout installation is among the most demanding tasks in track construction. NC Rail installs new turnouts, replaces worn-out ones and carries out follow-up work such as track alignment around the turnout area. We handle everything from switch blades and crossing panels to inspections before opening to traffic. The work is planned around the track possession window so that the closure is utilised to the maximum.

Sweden has around 10,600 sets of points and crossings and the average age of them is high. The need for point and crossing replacements is therefore growing year by year. We provide staff for everything from individual point and crossing replacements to larger phases.
